  1. People this is the most affordable 46 inch 3D HDTV I was able to find browsing the net, take a look at it here. One of the things that I'm worried about is that refresh rates are only at 60Hz and I read that a quality 3D HDTV should have at least 120 Hz or you will notice the flicker. That's why I wanted this question to be answered here. Thanks in advance people.

If I recall correctly, 120Hz is needed for TVs that use active shutter 3D glasses because when using that technology, each eye perceives frames at full resolution but at half the refresh rate (with a 120Hz TV each eye sees 60Hz).

The Cielo TV you are considering uses passive 3D, so 60Hz should be OK. With passive 3D glasses each eye receives a picture at half the total vertical resolution (for a 1920x1080 picture, each eye gets 540 lines), but at 60Hz for a 60Hz TV.

  3. Is there a big difference between between passive and active glasses? Will it justify the bigger investment?

With passive 3D glasses, one eye sees all the even lines and the other sees all the odd lines simultaneously. Active shutter glasses seem to provide a little more apparent detail because one eye sees every even frame and the other eye sees each odd frame, so each eye sees every line in the frames it sees. ....but the active shutter technology is somewhat more likely to cause some people to get headaches and/or nausea from watching 3D movies although either can cause these problems for susceptible individuals. The glasses for active shutter 3D are also considerably more expensive than passive 3D glasses.

Can't vouch at ALL for the quality of this no-name brand, but if it actually is good quality (and long-lived enough), it is a steal. Certainly the best/largest at that price point. Only thorough testing, fellow consumer reports, and time can bear this out or not.

Yes, usually_quiet is correct in his/her assessment of the relative merits of Active vs. Passive displays & glasses. Me, I haven't noticed enough of a difference in the resolution to consider Passive any less than optimal. I think that has lots to do with the fact that Z-resolution is dependent upon X-resolution (horizontal) and since there isn't any loss there, the 3D is comparable, and I am guessing that (probably historically) the eye/brain has more acuity in the horizontal dimension than the vertical anyway.

I just purchased the Cielo 3D 46 inch today, it arrived by Fedex Mon 12/2/2013 took it out of box, and the right hand side of screen is blacked out, called Cielo they said unplug the set for 10 seconds, of course did'nt work, called walmart, finally got a human and was told to bring it back for refund, the TV is now listed as o"out of stock" 5 out of 10 Walmart.com reviews told of their TV being blacked out on the left side, I took a chance and crapped out, don't know if its Walmart or Fedex, buy the front of TV where screen and plastic trim meet, had a small gap as if the box was dropped on one end, manufacture box was not damaged though, and it had padding in box, so I thinking Cielo which I think is a no-name for (samsung) so I've been told, is really a crappy TV (at least the one I received)

I am very sorry to hear that, but cannot help NOT being surprised. You know, "you get what you pay for", "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", and all that. I mean, if they were so great, this no-name brand would have made a name for itself.
Plus, I have come to not trust anything technology-related that is gotten at Walmart. A cheap version of something broken is still too expensive in my book. Once bitten, twice shy.

Hope you get a full refund soon and are able to apply it to a 3DTV purchase that works for you.
