  1. I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but the motherboard is a variable that can be changed. I tried to standardize my build of 20 pcs on this board, but the issues are too much.

    Build:
    Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3
    Intel i3 2200
    4gb RAM
    AverTV PICe Card C027
    32GB SSD
    Windows 7

The install of Win7 is fresh.
The avermedia card works after install and then within a certain variable time after -- it stops working (it's a TV card)
It actually will say "no signal" even though the source (cable box) is still connected and can be plugged into a TV and works without issue

I've tried multiple cards - same result
I've tried multiple motherboards - same result

Power on board is 350W -- which is plenty for what I am doing.

I am building systems for clients and need to understand what I am missing here.

I looked in the power settings and can't see anything about PCI turning off after a certain time.
I used to use a Zotac board and never had an issue.

The drivers for the avermedia card are the latest.

And the bios I am using for the motherboard is F8

I'm really at a loss... and tried everything I can think of.

    Suggestions?

Update: after reboot, the "tv" stayed on for 43 minutes before saying "no signal"

    32gb SD ... very limiting

45mins sounds like max file (high bitrate dvd quality limit reached) ... confirm in supplied application > settings > split file size (must be checked)

    Restart application and try again.

350watt psu might be suitable in some hardware applications but in general intel should use nothing less than 400watt psu

  3. Thank you for your response. It seems based on the assumption that I am recording. Which I am not.
Hard drive size is very SUFFICIENT - i have 20GB left
I am not recording - so there is no file to split size
350 watt is more then double the calculations for motherboard, CPU and PCIe Card.

I am just loading a single application -- and having issue with the avertv card seeing the TV signal and then going to 'no signal'

I am trying to determine if it is the motherboard and pcie card simply not getting along and I need to move to another motherboard.
Or if I missed some setting.

Upon reboot -- the TV signal went away after 45 minutes. then the next time it went out in less then 5 minutes. So -- it's not an issue with a timeout or sleep... I made no changes in reboot.

    Any ideas are welcome.

  4. The issue is a motherboard conflict. I am running the same system on 2 other computers from the same source -- with no issues. These other computers have different motherboards

I would like to try the original driver and original mediacenter (not 3d)

    I need the following:
    Media Center - 1.7.5
    Driver - 1.12.64.29

I have these running on another system without issue and it's the last test to determine if it's the motherboard or driver conflict.

    Thank you.

  5. I was able to find the older driver -- and this was able to help the motherboard issue when it said "cannot find avermedia tv card" or under hardware the new driver failed to help windows identify the card.

But -- within the software, version 1.7.9 it still turns off and says "no signal"

Meanwhile, the other computers -- one running media center 1.7.5 is running without issue.

So, I am looking for media center 1.7.5 for the C027

I am unable to find this. Other builds for the 1.7.5 still exist on avermedia's website, but for other systems -- even when you download just the app, it has something embedded that calls the card. So I need the old version of 1.7.5 to try.

I have 20 of these systems built using this motherboard all with the same issue -- otherwise, I will try another motherboard, which will be a costly situation.

I have a 1.75, build with this file name:
    AVerMCS 1.7.5 [Build 09080501]_NormalVersion_090806.zip

I think as long as you do a custom install and deselect the driver (same on uninstall) it may be worth a try.
Let me know, and I'll upload it somewhere.

  7. If it's for the c027 then that will work. Thank you.

It it's tagged for another board, it won't work. I tried others.

It works for me (Avermedia M780). In fact at one time I installed a 3d version of MCS
and that worked also - except of course the M780 is not a 3d device. Point is, it had basic functionality.

Why doesn't the AverMedia version 1.79 at their website on the product download page not work?
If you want to download this 1.75 and try it, it's here, 47MB:

  9. Right now I'm trying to figure out why none of the changes I made this far have not worked. I have another system running 1.7.5 and it's working even though it's a different board. If thus board does not work with thus card, I'm exhausting all possibilities. I have 20 of these things built that are not working because of whatever issue.

I hope I can sole it with this file and driver.

    Thanks.

Do not use the driver included with this version of MCS. Do a custom install and deselect the driver.
This way your existing driver will be retained.

  11. I downloaded the MCS and tried to install.

In 'custom' install - there is only one option -- install the software or not. It doesn't break the install down any more.

After install it says "avertv card not found"

I checked under device manager -- and it was still there without any marks.

NOTE: I have 1.7.5 running on another computer (different motherboard) with this same card. It's too bad I can't extract those files and put on this system.

It looks like I will need to get all new motherboards!!

You're right, I apologize - I looked through the files and even tried it myself.
The drivers are not included with this build. I have another version of 1.75 that has them, but it seems your problems
are different. Perhaps you should research further into why the official 1.79 MCS is doing what it does.
Have you looked to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard?

  13. Thank you.

Actually - the file opened, but then said the card couldn't be found. I have the old driver mentioned below -- but for some reason, when this version of the software launched, it didn't recognize it.

I'm not sure if it is expecting a different card -- or a card in the USB slot as opposed to the PCIe.

I'm going to try this again -- after I remove the driver for the card and the card -- physically.

    Maybe the sequence will matter.

The bios for the motherboard is F8 which is listed on the biostar website as the most current.

Regarding 1.7.9 -- I am not sure why it's stopping at various time. According to the people at avermedia -- it's working -- and they don't know why I'm seeing no signal.

In the mean time, the other systems running the cards on different mobo have been running flawlessly for a couple of days.

    Thank you for your help.

A few other things to look for -

Is the card over heating? Perhaps run it with the case open, and even point a small fan at the area.
    Does it affect the problem?

    Update Directx with this:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Get into Control Panel/Power Options and switch the plan from balanced to "always on" (or what ever it's called
    in Windows 7)

Get into Windows update and look for "optional" updates. You may find items related to "compatibility" or similar.
Install anything that looks promising. Avoid KB2670838 "platform update" it's been causing problems.

(Perhaps try these things one at a time)

EDIT You mentioned Biostar MB BIOS version, but earlier on you stated Gigabyte was the brand.

  15. Thank you

The case was never closed -- still running open during testing

Power is 'always on' and pci is set to never sleep

All updates including optional have been done.

It's a gigabyte f8 version bios. I probably mistyped while reviewing other websites.
The version of the Gigabyte Bios is F8 which is the most current for this board.

I'm at a lost -- and have tried other computers with the same source. I have changed the source. I have changed drivers. I have changed motherboards and cards to see if there is any consistency in the madness -- nothing allows the system to run completely through with no issues.

I'm going to a zotac board with on-board WIFI that I know will work. It will cost more -- but I need something that will work!

It's a strange situation, that's for sure. Good luck with the new rig !
