  1. Hi,
I am planning for a short film. In that I want to show a single person talking with himself.
There are two different characters which are to be performed by the same person.
I want to have the freedom to move the camera i.e I can't fix the angle and focal length of camera fixed.
What software do I need to use?
Please explain the technique and site some sources where I can find more information?

    Thank u.

Without fixed camera+lens, you will have to resort to greenscreen+compositing techniques.

  3. Or he could use a stand-in for the 'other' person. Two people are standing and facing each other having a conversation. When one is speaking the other is seen from the back with the camera filming over his shoulder. Just use someone with a similar appearance when seen from the back (same height, same hair color and cut, same clothes, etc.). Not exactly what was asked, but a helluva lot easier than greenscreen stuff.

Although Ozu used different people, when two were sitting and speaking he would switch camera angles every time the speaker changed and you often only saw the face of one. It drove his actors crazy and took forever to film.

Oh, you're talking about OTS (over-the-shoulder) Shot/ReverseShot body doubles, fixed in editing. Yeah, I guess you could call that an option too.

@Alwaysramu - if you want to try this, see how a master does it by looking at the nearly perfectly matched shots in "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" (with Steve Martin, c.1982).

it's called a body double and hard to find especially for an indy filmmaker
I'm thinking greenscreen which is also fun

Thanks for that. I am thinking of the same option.

  7. Thanks for the answers.
    My simple doubt is ..
Is using Green Screen a difficult task?
I want to know about the budget and level of difficulty to learn it (Also I'm stating about the difficulty in editing).
I have only little idea about green screen technique .
I saw some youtube videos of how the actual hollywood films are shot using green screen.
