I am having a problem with VirtualDub when I try to extract the audio from my divx file into a wav format. The extraction works fine it is just that the audio file is now 4 seconds longer than the video file. How do I fix this problem.

Click the "how to edit" link on the left; there are several good guides on resynching.

Scan the video for junk frames first, save out another copy using Video/Audio > direct stream copy.Originally Posted by needshelp
Then you can work on the second copy, and save out the audio (If necessary) -
If I scan for bad frames, and I end up deleting ones I find won't that just make my video file even shorter causing even more syncing problems?

Yes...but after scanning for bad frames (and removing them),you can do a direct stream copy ,then extract the WAV from the slightly shortened file.Use WAV as audio source in TMPGE and encode.Originally Posted by needshelp"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow"

When you delete bad frames, they could be ones without audio, they could be ones with audio. If there are any you have to delete them before you do anything. If any of the bad frames do contain audio, then the audio will also be deleted.Originally Posted by needshelp
After you delete and save out another copy to work with, you now have to see what you have got left and if it still has other problems, what you can do to fix them.
