Using either A/V or S-Video cables, I can't get audio or video from my DMR-ES20 recorder, though on one short custom DVD I did see white and dark lines flash for the thirty seconds it plays on one of the two TVs I tested with. On the second TV I see a flash when HELLO is displayed on the DMR-ES20. No audio on CDs either. Did try two sets of A/V cables. Recorder otherwise seems to work, except I don't get video even on SETUP. No error codes. DVD seems to run just fine. Can see seconds of playing time. Can stop and play.
Made sure TV was set to AV. Cleaned drive spindle rubber hub and white cap with isopropol alcohol. Sprayed DustOFF on the LED.
The original owner gave this recorder to me when he had this problem after five years of moderate use.
Don't have coax plugged in. Will appreciate any suggestions. Would like to give a shot at repairing it myself.
