  1. I am nor really sure which section to put this in, I guess here is good as any.

At work we are wanting to setup a HDTV on one end of the room, and have a laptop on the other end for presentations. The room is fairly small, but with the layout of the room and wanting to run the cables up through the wall and back down on the other side I am looking at a cable length of 25-30 feet. Getting HDMI cables in that length get pretty pricey.

The laptop only has one displayport and one VGA connectors.

My idea is to connect a HDMI adapter to the displayport, and run an HDMI cable to the wall. I would then plug it into a HDMI to cat5 wallplate, like this one http://www.pcconnection.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail.htm?sku=8803490&cac=Result. The cat5 would run to the other side of the room to the other wallplate. From there I would have a HDMI cable to the TV.

Is this the best way to do this? Is it the most cost effective?

When this is all plugged up, will the laptop be able to "see" the TV?

    Thanks!

A high performance HDMI cable should work for 25-35 ft. CL-2 rating is usually required for commercial in wall cable runs.

Higher quality cables. Belden Series 1 is top quality.

You can use female to female Keystone jacks for wall plates.
