  1. I just made my first VCD last night, and as i was watching it, peoples lips were still moving when they were done talking

I used TMPEGne to convert my avi files to mgp, than used nero to convert to vcds...

The AVI file looks perfect on my computer, lips sync up perfectly, just when its on the dvd player its all messed up...

I burned at 8x maybe that was to fast, if I try 2x maybe that will fix it??

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP... Oh yeah and my dvd player for the tv supports VCD's just in case you were wondering......

Did you "Load" a VCD template in TMPGEnc ?

You may need to save out the audio then use that with TMPGEnc

    Vdub, Load AVI

    Audio > full processing mode
    Audio > Conversion > 44.1 Khz
    SAVE AVI

Now use that with your original AVI in TMPGEnc

  4. can you tell me the specs on the divx video? (audio length and video length). Depending on certain things, you might want to try using nero (yes, nero) to convert the divx file to vcd. Have you tried the guides on this site and divx-digest.com?

Nero is the last thing I would recommend anyone uses to convert an AVI to mpeg 1. It might work sometimes, but get anything with a stutter and it makes costars

  7. Welcome to the strange world of Divx and VCD's. I downloaded Goldmember, plays fine on computer, Panasonic DVD player, Sampo DVD Player but out of sync on Daewoo 5800 DVD player, go figure, oh yes Divx plays fine also on Sega Dreamcast also. burned VCD's before this one, Staurt Little 2, K-19 and Road to perdiction worked fine burned 2 since master of disguise and Triple x both those worked great also, so I just played the Goldmember Divx on the dreamcast and recorded on DVD-R with my Panasonic DMR-E20.

  10. another thing (when you mentioned plays fine on the computer), did you scan the divx file with divfix or vdub to see if there were any bad frames, etc.

Have you used all of the guides on this site to correct audio problems?

Did the nero solution work for you?

ps. This is not an Instant Messaging type of forum. I (and at least some of the other people on this forum) have jobs and families to support. When we get a free moment out of our day, we try to help.

Nero was used to "Author" your mpeg 1, using the word convert sounds like you used it to convert from AVI to .mpeg ?

Nero should not be used for converting AVI's at all, it will handle them, but most downloaded AVI's have problems that Nero cannot deal with.

You risk scrapping a disk by using Nero, when using other programs like TMPGEnc it will show up the problem, long before you try to put it on a CD

A lot of people are jumping straight to TMPGEnc for the conversion, and are not check the original AVI for junk frames. It only takes a few minuets to scan for junk frames with Vdub, and only a few minuets to save a new file out if it finds any

    Vdub
Video > Scan Video stream for errors

    Video > Direct stream copy
    Audio > Direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI

This will save out another copy without the bad frames, if it fails on the scan, you need to use ""vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" which is more reliable, and makes a log of them at c:\badframes.log then you can delete them at the highest blocks first.
