I'm using TMPGE latest beta version and have DivX 4 codec installed but getting error (cannot open or unsupported).
I want to encode to MPEG so I can make a CD.

NOT sure if this will help but....
As far as I know you can't encode a complete div x ie one that has compressed sound - well I can't, I rip direct (in real time) to a div x compressed video stream but leave the audio uncompressed, I then convert this to a proper div x with compress audio too.
I then go and use TMPEnc to make an mpeg but I use the original capture.avi. to do it, ie compressed video but not audio - i get very little audio sync probs either - maybe I've just been lucky so far..
Are you trying to convert a downloaded div-x to mpeg or one of your own? If it's your own rip try the above....
regards
