  1. Do I need BlueRay writer to make a HD DVD which will play the DVD with the HD
affect? I am using NeroMultimediaPlatnium 10HD, and I can't seem to be able to create
a HD DVD. I am able to view the HD project in KwikMedia Nero program. I captured this
project to my hard drive from my Sony HDR FX-7 via Nero Vision, but again was not
able to create the HD DVD even with the ACVHD format. My system as follows:OS Name

DVD is not HD; it is standard definition. That's why they made Blu-ray. So, yes, you'd need a Blu-ray writer. (Technically, you could store a small amount of HD video data on a DVD disc, but it would not be DVD-compliant, nor would it play on a standard DVD player.)

Well, I'm guessing for one, you don't burn HDDVD's with a BluRay burner, you burn BD's and DVD's and CD's. And so, your question isn't clear as to what you really need.
"HD DVD" is a specific format, not an "affect" (sic).
Do you intend to use DVD media or BD media?
Are you trying to play HD on a PC or on a settop player?
If settop, is it a standard DVD player or a BD player?
    What is your viewing device?

That's probably what he didn't understand.

State your equipment, your needs, your constraints, etc. a little more thoroughly (and with paragraphs for easier viewing!).

  7. If you do not have a Blu-Ray player, an HD-DVD player, or a PC for playback, then you are wasting your time.

If you DO have one of the above, there are specific methods to obtain Hi-Definition playback on each, but they are different.

If you are really trying to make an HD-DVD video on a DVD disk, it can be done but is a waste of time for many reasons.

If you want Hi-Def on a DVD, you need a Blu-Ray player or a PC for playback. Standard DVD set-top player will not work.

You will most likely need to avoid Nero, and use standard tools to make an AVCHD disk.

  8. Thank you Kindly for your input. Its funny how NERO chat and tech support just strung me along all this time without one mention of the required BluRay technology. Just this evening I ordered a BluRay External writer (Panasonic) and Verbatim BluRay discs via Amazon.
I must have wasted practically three days of attempting to burn HD to DVD. What a hair pulling dilemma its been.
Thanks again for all your help.
