  1. I'm new to doing anything video related so I'm a little lost.

Basically, I've been recording things with Windows Media Center in Windows 7. I've converted the 1080p WTV files to MPG MC-TVConverter so I can edit the commercials out.

I tried TMPGEnc Editor 3 Trial and had good results editing and then just saving the MPG file without re-encoding.

Now, I tried TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 expecting it to do the same thing but with more features. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to just edit and save without re-encoding!

I just want to keep it in it's original quality until I decide what I want to do with it in terms of archiving. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I use tmpgenc mpeg editor 3 all the time. I edit my dvds using it. To not reecoding is easy. What I do is before the output tab, I choose base clip from output mode on the format tab. Then i go to output and save my edit video. I never had the program convert my videos that is what they was before the edits. I hope this helps you out. Let me know if you have any questions about tmpgenc mpeg editor 3.

  3. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, Video Mastering Works doesn't give the option of Base Clip, just different encoding options.

If these are straight mpeg files.... MPEG-VCR is my favorite. I believe it has at least one free "cousin" too.

I believe you are referring to mpg2cut2 which works great on regular mpg.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Yep....that's the one. Isn't that "schnitt" one a free clone as well?

  9. Thank you everyone for the help. I ending up just using TMPGEnc MPEG Editor to do all the editing.

What I find strange is that I was testing the unedited 1080p video on my work PC, an ancient P4 3.0GHz and it played fine in Windows Media Center; however, the edited version was slow and choppy. I find it kinda odd when the video wasn't re-encoded.

I thought it meant "sound", but my knowledge of German is less than minimal . . . .
