Because your source video was nowhere near DVD standard/quality most likely. What type of video are we talking about here?

Well it's almost guaranteed that the .avi movies have already been "destroyed" as far as quality goes. Once the conversion from the original source to "avi" is complete....the quality is gone and there is no way to get it back.

  8. These subs are selectable, right, and not burned into the video?

I don't know how you are generating these subs, but the problem is that he outline is not anti-aliased -- is just a black pixel or nothing. You get a smoother appearing outline if it can use tones (eg, greys). Whether this is possible depends on your subtitling program. If you use simple sans serif English fonts (like Arial) this isn't so much of a problem, but more complex shapes don't look so nice.

thnx for replying,, actually even if i used the Arial Font it also pixeled like this i mean if i made the subtitles in English
or Arabic it's the same thing nothing changes and btw color Grey wouldn't be nice i prefer black though..
    I don't know what should i do ????

by pixelated, i assume you are talking about the jaggy edges.
As you are using convertxto dvd, go into the subtitle settings and select FONT, anti aliasing and select "Anti alias - with hinting" this should improve your subtitle quality

He means use grey as the anti-alias color in between the black outline and the (white or light grey?) main color. Perhaps darkknight145 is pointing you in the right direction.

  16. I don't use ConvertXToDVD, so I can't help there. I make my DVD subtitles from scratch but I've had no experience with non-English alphabets. I can't help you. Sorry.
