I tried to convert some NTSC DV footage, which was captured thru premiere, to divx using Virtualdub, but I couldn't get satisfactory result. Seems like virtualdub doesn't handle the fields right. When there is movement on the scene, there are horizontal lines on the edge of the object (fields are off?). Even if I played the footage in virtualdub, it looked the same. The footage plays fine in premiere. Any idea? Thanks a lot!

well if your converting to divx, and you plan on viewing this video only on the pc, then you will need to deinterlace. I recommend a area based deinterlace plugin for virtualdub...

If your using divx 5, the codec will deinterlace for you. Just make sure you specify that you're using interlaced material.
