  1. My friend has a laptop with a DVD-ROM drive. It plays DVD movies and CD data. When I pop in a Audio CD, it says "NO CD PLAYER" or something like that. Do DVD-Roms play CDs? Is it his computer? Do i need a special prog?

    thanks

Windows can't find the program to play cds.

If you use a regular cd player program, it'll work.

DVD-ROM's are able to play CD-ROM's and other CD media.

Sounds like a software issue to me. On a related note, anyone know if they even make regular CD-ROM drives anymore? If so why? I would think that all the manufacturers would have switched over to DVD-ROM drives by now.

  4. Use a program like musicmatch or the like. The built in player in windows is very plain and limited. Musicmatch can not only play music but rip and burn music.

Oh yeah, they still make CD-ROMs

Stand alone CD-Roms are a bit faster and much cheaper than DVD-ROMs
