Cannot render to widescreen in neither vegas 7 or 8

I've got a project queued up in Vegas 8 ready to render. It is a widescreen PAL project for 1024x576 at 25 fps. When I render to PAL DV I have absolutely no problem, then when I render to PAL DV Widescreen, I get the following error message as soon as the render starts.

"an error occurred while creating the media file"

"the reason for the error could not be determined"

I thought it might of been a corrupted version of Vegas 7, so I've just done a fresh install of vegas 8, and exactly the same problem.

I thought it might of been the source video that was the issue, but even just with a Vegas generated title screen, I get the same issue with both Ver 7 and Ver 8 without the sourced mpeg video.

I went into the template for PAL DV, and manually changed the screen dimensions to 1024x576 and the aspect ratio to 16/9, and still exactly the same problem.

It seems there is a bug when trying to export to widescreen? however I'd rather know I'm doing something wrong, would appreciate if anyone can shine some light on this. Thanx.

pal dv is 720x576 only. you can't change DVavi dimensions, use the stock widescreen PAL DVavi template and leave it alone there is a flag in the file that makes it widescreen.
