  1. Just a couple quickies:

    1) If I were to buy a DVD Player and got the VCD add-on (this is possible, right), then would the VCDs be able to be made through a CD-R, or would they need to be made through a DVD-R? Also, what would the quality of this be? It seems only slightly worse than a DivX, however neither seem near as good as even standard Cable Television....And how much would this whole package cost?

    2) Can all forms (.avi, .wmv, vcds, etc.) be converted into a MPEG-2 file?

I know I am going to get people look over this and say 'ignorant loser', so I apologize in advance, as well as thank in advance for any who can help.

  2. Hopefully i'll be able to answer your questions in a satisfactory way:

    1) If you are reffering to a DVD Standalone Player, then most of them which can be over 90% actually, can read CDRW media, and the rest will CDR media. As for the quality of VCD, that depends alot on the source, I have seen and created some VCD's that came out looking great! and i've also seen those created from DivX/Mov and other formats which had low quality, and the VCD looked even worse, so it all depends on what you use as the source.

    2) I do know most formats which are open (unlike WMV/RM) can be converted into any other format you choose, but as far as I know, the two formats i've mentioned above do not have any tools, because Microsoft/RealNetworks have forbidden on programmers to create such tools
