I had a DVD movie shot, edited and produced by a professional videographer. I copied it using Roxio with no problem and it plays with no problems on computers; however, although it will play on most standard DVD players it does not play correctly. It will start a chapter then jump forward and when you reset it it will finish that chapter correctly. Same thing for other chapters (they are VOB files).
This does not happen with the original I have, only the copies.
This video is part of a suppot package and it is absolutely essential that it be copied and reproduced on home computers and viewable on most standard DVD players.
Obviously I need HEELLLP!! I will provide additional info as needed.
Thanks,

Using Roxio to burn the copies on Memorex DVD-R (16X, 4.7GB). The video is 32 mimutes in length, 1.7GB and takes about 3-1/2 minutes to burn.

Memorex are typically made by CMC Magnetics, and their reputation here is either crap media or, being generous, hit-and-miss. I would suggest Verbatims (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.), but stay away from the ValueLine stuff.
Secondly, Roxio has an evil reputation here. Try ImgBurn (free), and burn at less than maximum speed, say, 8x. (Going lower almost certainly would not help).
Good luck.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
OK, OK, I'm going to buy some Verbatims and I've already downloaded ImgBurn.
I've read that there area lot of potential problems getting DVDs burned on a computer to play on standard DVD players. Is it that much of a problem, or just a matter of correctly utilizing the best media and software??
Thanks,

djr37 - Stay away from Verbatim's "DataLife" series now being sold in BestBuy. They are the same crap everyone else makes. And don't confuse their sucky DataLife series with the still excellent DataLifePlus series that is not sold in stores but is available online.
There can be problems in playing burnt DVDs, but if you burn with ImgBurn and use good quality (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) media, those should be few. However, there is absolutely nothing you can do about the guy with a 5+ year old DVD player that somehow still (barely) works but can't read your discs no matter what you do. Using ImgBurn and good quality media gives you the best chance for success. -
Here's a link to Verbatim MCC-004-00 lightscribe single-layer DVD+R, (and a site sponsor, BTW):

And here's link to Verbatim MKM-003-00 lightscribe double-layer DVD+R-DL:

The above MIDs (manufacturer I.D.), or closely similar, are what you want. I've bought from Amazon, NewEgg, Rima, a bunch more. My latest purchase was from SupermediaStore, as above, so I can attest to the proper MIDs.Pull! Bang! Darn!
