  1. I just opened up Vegas 8.0c for the first time in awhile, to edit project that among other file types contain MP4s. However, for no apparent reason, all the MP4s in the project display distorted:

They appear distorted in both the timeline and the Project Media tab.

I tried uninstalling Klite Codec Pack (4.8.3), but it still appears distorted. I also have Quicktime 7.6.6.

    Any ideas?

  2. Problem solved: QuickTime 7.6.6 apparently break H.264. The solution is to downgrade to 7.6.5. You can find that version at SoftwarePatch.

HTH anyone who has this problem.

  4. I see. Is there some way to switch Vegas' dependency on Quicktime to something else, like ffdshow?

You could try Quicktime Alternative. I haven't tried it with Vegas but it worked fine with Adobe Premiere Elements.
