  1. hello all.
i have just purchased an mp3 player touch screen from hong kong.
it plays avi's at resolution on 800x480 maximum.

i have used prism video convertor to con vert the file to 800x480 and smaller but cant get it to play on my new player.?

it comes installed with a video and the details from gstop are as follows
    audio codec MPEG-1 Layer 2
    video codec xvid 1.1.0 final
    f-rate 20.00

the file i have converted is as follows
    audio codec MPEG-2 LAYER 3
    VIDEO CODEC Xvid iso MPEG-4
    f-rate 20.00

what do i have to do to convert an avi file to the peramiters above so they are the same as the sample given with the player.

many thanks for any help in this matter.

Some of these players don't really play MP4 or AVI as advertised. Well, they don't play what you and I mean by those terms. They actually play a format called AMV. There is a little bit of info on it here at Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMV_video_format
It's up to you to try to find something that can produce this output and then test it to see if this what they mean when they say they play "AVI" files.

13 years on, Reading this old post meant my dear old mum in the UK will receive a photo frame that will play video files (not just photos), which was what I really wanted above all else.

To the dear (now somewhat older) original poster - THANKS for taking the time to post your solution. The karma came around 13 years later - bless ya, and Happy Xmas x

Oh, and yeah, Any Video Converter (AVC) is still going strong 13 years later, and works really well - great software. I used the Custom AVI setting, and that's what solved the issue. Likewise, Over the Moon.
