here is my problrm,i have a voodoo3500 tv card,i have some mpeg files which i would like to put on vhs,but when i try and record them onto video all i get is a black screen,i have bought all the proper cables and even checked on this site for more informaition,without no luck,so what im asking is do i need some kind of software to record onto vhs video,if so can some1giude me in the right direction

I have a vodoo 3 3000, which is similar in all aspects, except it doesn't capture video. What you need to do is enable tv-out on your card. I have some windows xp third party drivers and its a little different. But if I remember correctly right click on desktop>properties> then 3dfx tv(or something like that) then enable tv out. Hope this helps.
