Wondering if there is any standalone program to copy a Windows XP hard drive byte for byte..... not using software like Norton or Acronis. Back in the days of Win 98 & ME, I had a program called XXCOPY on a floppy disk, all you had to do was connect
a second hard drive to your system and XXCOPY would copy the entire hard drive. Then you could remove your first hard drive
and install the copied drive as your main unit. Anything similar out there for Windows XP NTFS file system ? Thanks.

Most retail hard drives come with a free clone utility. You can also go to the drive manufacturer's web site and download one for free -- as long as one of the drives is from that manufacturer. In my experience it's usually a crippled copy of Acronis.
