  1. I have the Godfather Coppola Restoration films encoded to generic.avi.h264.audiocopy in DVDFab and now I want to edit them in these applications: Vegas Pro and Ulead VideoStudio. But both of the applications don't like this h264 format i guess. I converted the first chapter of the Part I movie with 4400 kbps, 720*576 res, same frame rate with the source. In Sony Vegas Pro, it doesn't show the preview of the video in right top of the corner, you can hear the sounds and the music but no vision. And i can see it in divx or xvid format of the video. So the problem is probably about h264 encoding. The same problem shows itself again in Ulead VideoStudio and in addition the program starts to work very slowly when i put the h264 format in video editing section. It takes nealy a minute to be able to press a button in the application. There's no video preview again in this one also. The sounds and music are can be heard again. What might be the problem about this h264? Do I have to edit my videos in xvid? Can't I use the h264 quality in my trailers which I'm plannig to use on my godfather fan web site? Please help

  2. h.264 is not good to edit. Use the original format, it's higher quality and easier to edit. ie. If this was from a DVD , then use the original MPEG2

If you want to edit the lossy h.264 in avi container, then you need an h.264 vfw decoder. You could use ffdshow and enable h.264 in the vfw configuration (yellow icon) , or install x264vfw http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/
