  2. If you want to put video from your pc to vhs, you'll have to hardware that can export video, usually a video or capture card with TV Out, or firewire connected to a camcorder with digital>analog conversion.
    mmm....unexplained bacon...

Our extended forecast calls for flurries of passion followed by extended periods of gettin it on.

  3. There are multiple ways to do this. I will list a few below:

    1. If your video card has TV-out, you are golden. Attach your video card to your VCR using S-video/composite cable then connect the VCR to a TV. Then attach your computer's speaker output on your sound card to your VCR using a 1/8th stereo to RCA stereo audio cable (available from Radioshack or Walmart along with a 1/8th stereo splitter if this will be a permanent connection so you can leave your PC speakers attached too). Use your control panel to switch your display to analog TV mode. Push record on your vcr and play your mpeg fullscreen. If you are thinking of upgrading your video card or getting a new computer, get one with this feature. It is EXTREMELY versatile because you can use your TV as a low resolution monitor and record ANYTHING from your PC on VHS tape.

    2. You can purchase an external VGA to S-video (or composite video) converter which does the same function as TV-out on a video card. Use the same audio setup that I described above.

    3. If you have a CD burner, use your mpeg's to make a (S)VCD with the right programs. There are many guides on this site to show you how. If you have access to a DVD player that can play (S)VCD's (check compatibility guide here on vcdhelp), connect it your vcr and record.

    4. Use firewire and a digital camcorder. You can convert your mpeg to a DV file and export it to your camcorder. Then record from your camcorder to VHS.

i think putting avi straight to vhs is much better than converting to vcd, especially if the quality of the film is only good quality e.g. 405meg for 1hr 50min.i converted this film to mpeg/vcd and the quality was poor on dvd player.picture much sharper using geforce2 400mx 64mb with composite/svhs out.problem is with this card is you get black borders around the screen which you cannot fill out unless you download tvtools which is a shareware program.

  5. I had a problem with black borders being around the screen as well with my graphics card TV-out. I solved/minimized this problem by resetting my desktop resolution to 640 x 480 before switching from my monitor to my TV set. Now it is barely noticeable and nobody has made any more comments about the issue.
