    Hey guys,

I've recently had an avi video file compressed using WinRar, the problem is that I compressed it twice and now it doesn't work anymore. Well, the audio works fine but the video doesn't play. I've tried using Windows Media Classic and VLC which worked for the file just fine up until i compressed the file. I used a program called G-Spot to identify if I was missing any codecs but it says that there was a partial render failure, more specifically , the audio could be rendered but the video could not. Is there any way to fix this? Any help appreciated!

  2. why did you compress it twice? you don't get extra compression

    try winrar's repair function

Well, I planned to store the file in my hard disk for a long time, I thought it might be more secure for some reason. Yes i have tried using the repair function but don't think that it works, it comes up with a rebuilt copy of the file but the results after extraction is the same. This might not be note worthy but winrar did stop responding a few times while i was trying to repair it, the audio works fine but somehow the video just gets 'cropped out'
