    hey,

    Does any know any good after effects plugins for 8mm frame effects, like they use on TV ads, something like the image below.

    Explain what you mean. Super 8 film must first be converted to video (progressive 18-24fps or telecined to 29.97). After that you edit it as video.

    i have some digital video that i would like to make it look like 8mm film, with the black box around the sides, something like below.

    For the box frame you use a simple mask overlay in almost any video editor. You can draw a custom mask in windows paint, Photoshop or other graphics program.

    If you want it to play jerky/flickery like Super 8, there are various ways depending on the look you want.

    There is a tutorial for this sort of effect that you are after. Click on the "Project" button to download all the the tutorial files, including the "Real_8mm_Film.mov" which the author said was "digitally transferred from real 8mm film so you can't get anymore authentic than that".
