Hi, I wanted to know if there's a way to convert a normal dvd to a blu-ray quality - this is because some of the dvd's I own are not sold on blu-ray format e.g. beverly hills ninja, can only be bought as a dvd and is not available as either hddvd or bluray. So is there a way to convert a normal dvd to bluray quality.

    I saw these guides online

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides/convert-mkv-files-to-blu-ray-or-avchd-id1066#1066
    https://www.videohelp.com/guides/create-avchd-discs-with-subtitles-using-tsmuxer-id1073#1073

However they entail that I must have an mkv with avchd/h264 video and ac3 audio, in order to make a blu-ray quality dvd

Is there a way to get from a normal dvd to say 720/1080p quality? As the above is not a true blu-ray conversion

No, the output quality can only be as good as the input. You can put it on a bluray disc but the quality will not be any better than the original. However, a good upconverting dvd player will do a pretty good job.

Nope. You can't get blu-ray quality from dvd.

Just get a dvd player with 1080p upconversion instead and you will very good quality.

  4. no. dvd is 720x576 for you. there is no way to increase the quality, you would have to have the studio's original source material to do that.

you can re-encode to 720 or 1080 if you want but at best it will look almost as good as the dvd version.
