An Idea thats could work!!!!!

I have an idea that would have a video quality close to dvd and audio close to an audio cd. I wonder if there is a way to have a vcd with mp3 audio. It would have this:

Audio: Mp3 at 128 kbit/s
Video: Mpeg 1 at 500 kbit/s


It would be called 3vcd. Let me in on some opinions about it!

I forgot to mention that it would only work on dvd players that run vcd and mp3s.

It wont work, because VCD does not support mp3. Your player may play VCD and MP3 (burnt as CD-ROM), but not XVCD with mp3 sound.
btw, "Video: Mpeg 1 at 500 kbit/s" is far away from dvd quality.

Yes, by at least an order of magnitude; even the lowly VCD has over twice the bandwidth (500 vs 1150), so it'd look pretty shabby, unless it was 160x120 or some similarly teeny resolution.

MP3 in VCDs have been thought of before and simply it doesn't work on most machines.

You could always use a lower bitrate for the MP2 audio on a VCD to boost the video bitrate and indeed, there are XVCD templates that do this on this very site.

Remember though, watching a movie is a combined video AND audio experience. Better looking video with crappy audio detracts from the experience probably just as much as a few video glitches.
