  1. Which is the best avi container for good quality and great sound storage and plus it should support wide format. I prefer divx but i dont know what settings to go for and which software to. I also want the divx watermark on my video to appear.How about xvid ?. i used xilisoft,divx pro(boring interface) winavi etc.

    The Divx watermark is added by the Divx codec during playback through a setting in the Divx Decoder Configuration Utility. It is only added during encoding if you are re-encoding Divx source and using the Divx codec to decode the file.

    As for your main question - what you are really asking is what is the best compression codec to use in the AVI container.

    Frankly, I don't like any of the encoding front-ends you have mentioned. There are far better free options available. My current favourite is Xvid4PSP, although I still use AutoGK for mpeg-2 source if I need Divx encoded AVI output.

    However most of my encoding now is to mp4 using H264 for streaming or direct playback via the PS3. The quality is far better than Divx/Xvid can provide if the source is good.
