  1. I'm trying to import MPEGs into my DVD burning program (MyDVD) & it says it can't find a suitable decoder. It worked before so I must have had one, but I uninstalled a lot of stuff & I don't know what I need to reinstall to make it work.

I'm having the same problem with Sonic DVDit! 3.2PE. I installed Sonic MyDVD and it got the job done, but it's not very flexible about adding menu buttons, and backgrounds.

I've even copied allmost all the files from the MyDVD folders to the DVDit! folders trying to make it find the needed decoder but it doesn't work.

If you find an answer, let me know. I'd like to remove them both completely and do reinstall them clean with the PROPER solution in place..

    Thanks...

  3. it sounds likley that you both need to install an mpeg-2 codec. If you have a software DVD player (powerdvd, windvd etc) install that and it will install a suitable codec. If not there is a freeware codec available from this sites tools section.

It sounds like tha is the problems but I don't think so. I've installed both WinDVD4 and PowerDVDXP.

How can I tell DVDit! to recognize the codec. I also downloaded and installed a CODEC pack with the needed *.ax files, but DVDit! doesn't recognize it.

  5. The only other thing I can think of is that the files are not DVD compliant. How where they encoded? What template did you use (if TmpGenc used as encoder). I have seen this message from DvdIt, long time ago tho and can't remember how I fixed it!

They were created using Pinnacle Studio 7, using the DVD compliant presets.

It went without a hitch using MyDVD, but the lame menuing system on that proggie really turns me off.

It was working using the same exact software when I copied a VHS movie over to DVD, but for some reason it won't work on any other DVD MPEG2 captures.

I'm thinking I must have encoded the first move to MPEG1 by mistake or something. I don't get it...

I removed DVDit! 2.3 for now until I get this thing figured out.
