    Hi All.

I have been looking for a good motherboard which would be suitable for a computer with the following and was wondering if anyone could advise me on whether or not the one in the link below is compatible with all the hardware stated below and also suitable for my needs.

Phenom dual core 3 GHz processor, 4 Gb DDR3 1600MHz RAM, Geforce GTX260 896Mb graphics card and dual large screen monitors. The computer is not for gaming, however, it should be good for the occasional game as well.

    Around £75

There is also the following, but if the above one is more than adequate, then I would rather not spend the extra money. I do want it to be as future proof as possible though!

    Around £120

    Thanks.

  2. I will go with the GA-MA785GT-UD3H, and add a large CPU heatsink.
I have a gigabyte MB with intel CPU. It works great.

You really can't predict the future of any MB.

It's ME that's the scared one right now!!

Thanks for the reply SingSing. Your suggestion it is then! I was planning on purchasing the retail box which includes the heatsink fan. Are you advising that I not use the one it comes with and buy a better one? If so, again, any suggestions would be appreciated as I have no idea what is 'good' and how much I should pay.

    Thanks.

The oem hsf is ok if you never plan to overclock, but if you have any ambitions about overclocking it will make a nice "paperweight"

If you run the Phenom II at stock settings, the factory cooler is adequate. The one I got with my 920 Phenom II CPU was a heat pipe style with a copper base. Very nice for OEM. But if you plan to overclock, or your case has restricted cooling, then a upgrade is advisable. I use a Scythe Ninja Mini cooler on my HTPC: http://www.directron.com/scmnj1100.html?gsear=1 I upgraded the fan to a 92mm.

Link to HTPC: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic368691.html#1990948 The stock cooler is pictured and the Ninja is towards the bottom of the post.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions, provided advice and helped me choose my components. For your information, I opted for the cheaper of the two boards in the end.
