    Hi,
i Work for a TV Station in Greece, and we were recently asked to send to some govermental body a week's program in dvds.
Of course we did not keep anything from previous days so I spent like 3 weeks ripping dvds, putting our logo on them , copying into dvds etc.... We just use pinacle studio to broadcast live and put our logo on top...

Anyway, to get approved by the govermental body and enter the digital terrestrial systems we need to upgrade and be ready to provide 3 months of recordings at any time when asked!

What will be the best way to do that? I was looking into dvr software for cameras?

I would like to setup a pc, that takes the video input and records it. It should record a fixed number of hours. For example 2 months worth of hours always. no more, it should delete the previous. probably encode it to wmv or something to save space. If it could split the files to be less than 2g it would be good too.

The point is that one day I might be asked to provide for example:
-The last week of August in DVDs.

So I would like just to go those videos and copy them to the dvds.

Passing the video out from the live broadcast will not be a problem as we have "blackboxes" from pinnacle.
I guess we will need a tuner + the imaginary software I am talking about

    any syggestions?

A Hauppauge card and WinTV might work for you. You can set the pause buffer size and bitrate to values appropriate to your hard disk capacity and desired recording length. That will create a first in first out buffer that you can open in an app like AVIDeMux and extract any segments you need. Of course that would be one long pause buffer...

    problem solved.

    http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.912178 (204 euros)
    http://store.snapstream.com/btv-3-both.html (99 dollars)
    http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.303900 (84 euros)
    http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.702009 (28 euros)

Set to record every day from 05:15 to 05:00 (23.5 hours) (approximately 3.5 Gigabytes file). I can reach the beyond tv server through the network and make dvds easy on the machine through the interface.

Total 415 euros , archive depth = 8 months wmv vcd quality

Works fine for 2 months now.
I hope this helps people in similar situations.

(I was asked to pay 5000 euros for a dvr solution with an archive depth of 3 months!!!)
