Is there any program that will convert MKV directly to DVD? Not sure if that's possible or not. I tried using FAVC, but noticed that it first runs AVS2AVI. Does that mean that it's converting it to AVI first? I don't want to lose quality. Any & all help would be greatly appreciated.

Gotta convert it first if you want to run as a compliant dvd which favc will do,you will lose some quality if you're gonna watch it on a hdtv but it wont be too bad, save the mkv for later use if you wanna do a direct convert to blu-ray in the future.Tsmuxer will do that but use favc for dvd.

As johns0 points out, if you want to create a compliant DVD Video for playback on a standard DVD player, you have to convert it to a DVD compliant format.

If you have a PS3 you can use tsMuxer to create a playable bluray-on-a-DVD disc for playback, usually without re-encoding.

If you have a Divx capable player then you can use Xvid4PSP to convert it to a high bitrate Divx file to minimise the quality loss.
