What is a good price to copy Mini DVDs to DVD-5?

Hi All,

In the past few days I have had some customers bring in several mini-dvds to have put onto a full size DVD, combining all disks to one if possible. They are not looking for fancy menus or anything like that, just simple access to the contents.

What would be a fair price for this type of duplication/conversion? I will probably use TmgEnc to author out the final product.

The videos are family and personal things, I have a camera shop so this is not heavy duty industrial clients or work here, just average people who are unable to do this themselves.

$20 for master DVD and $10 per copy.

Yeah, $20, just to rip, drop into templated menu (or merge to a menu-less disc, one "disc" plays after another on the new DVD). For custom menu work, at least $40 or more.

That's similar to what I charge now, but what about including multiple mini-dvds onto one 4.7gb DVD? Seems to me there should be an 'add together' charge as multiple disks to one increases the time involved. I was thinking about $20 for the first disk copied and $5 for each additional disk put on. Does this make sense?

Charging $5 extra for each additional disc sounds fair to me. I would guess that you want to strike a balance between not charging so much that nobody wants it done (I'm assuming you actually want to do the work) and not charging so little that you get abused ("Please put these 10 mini DVDs on a single DVD disc") and I think that strikes a good balance. The more discs they want done, the more it will cost them.

So it sounds like I might have a formula that works then.

I don't need to quote a price until tomorrow, so if there are any other suggestions I'm still listening.
