i have old pc need to upgrade. not sure the old dell capture card will work with new pc. is there a capture device that will capture from video camera (older version that uses a mini plug to video,sound outputs, VHS player?

There are a wide variety of adapters you can get to go from just about any type to another type.
There is probably a good chance your old capture card will work on the new pc. You just need to make sure it has drivers that will work on it.
Chances are if its a pc you'll probably be getting VISTA. Just go to dells website and look up your capture card and see if it has VISTA drivers for it (check if its 32bit or 64bit depending on which VISTA you pick up).
Also make sure you have enough PCI Slots on your new machine to use it (assuming its PCI).
On the other hand there are multiple USB capture devices these days. If you only need Standard definition recording/capturing you can get no name ones dirt cheap on ebay. If you spend a little more you can get good quality usb devices from name brands like Pinnacle.
Again a trip to radioshack will get you just about any plug converter you need. Or you can order online.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
