if you buy a HD cam with a hard drive, br/dvdr or memory card storage system you shouldn't have any problem using your new portable over usb. forget about anything recording to minidv tape, it won't work.

"Is it possible to capture video through a USB 2.0?"
Yes, but if you need to ask, you also should return the MacBook. Ask for one with Firewire instead. Apple is going down and not just in stock price.
I wouldn't buy any Mac that lacks a Firewire port. At least the old s400 one.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

If you need a USB video capture device you can find one at AltoEdge: http://altoedge.com/usbcapture/index.html you should be able to grab video from most places with that.

USB capture from a DV/HDV camcorder requires an external hardware encoder that will be bulky, expensive and degrade the picture quality. You cannot transfer DV over USB2 on a Mac. Windows Vista has a direct show filter spec that makes this possible but few hardware products have implemented that spec.
