A commerecial quality DVD (produced by Deutches Grammaphone) having a Region Code of 0 was played successfully twice on this unit. Thereafter attempts to play it fail - after loading the screen remains blank with no error messages. This same unit plays other DVD's normally with no problem.
The affected DVD plays with no problems on multiple other units and on several PC's.
I have hacked the unit's region code, verified that it is a Region 1 unit (region 0 DVD's play on All Regions). I have tried changing the unit to Region 0 but this makes no difference.
It is a mystery. I have no idea what the problem could be.
Any ideas?

Did you look at DVD data side, does it look clean and consistent?
It could also be that your player's lens is little dusty, try to clean it.
Since it played before and play on other players, it could be combination of dirt and not so perfect DVD. -
Thanks, Tinker, I did look at the data side and cleaned it (although it did not need it). It is a brand new DVD only played fully twice with no trouble on the unit. The unit also plays other discs fine which seems to suggest the unit is functioning okay.
Still puzzled, but thanks, I appreciate the reply.
