Hey guys, I recently bought a winfast PxPVR1200 tv tuner from newegg:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815122010
I just installed it on my computer. I plugged the audo line into the cd in pins on my mobo and I plugged my tv cable line into the back of the card. I installed the drivers and started the program up. I just see a blank blue screen when I am trying to watch a channel. Does any one have any experience with these cards?
    Thanks!

BTW: I am running windows vista ultimate 64bit

Are you using a 64bit driver? Does Leadtech support 64bit Vista?

PS: It looks like they do.

I'm not on Vista but using the coax from my cable box to my card, I always have to have my tuner set to channel 3 in order to get a picture.

Thanks for the reply, I am not using a cable box. I just attached a cable line from the wall to the card. Is this not enough? Also, do you have this exact card?
    Thanks

Did the channel scan give you a list of channels that matches your cable guide?

The channel scan already had the 125 channels. It didn't change.

I don't know of a cable system that would have 125 analog channels. Are you seeing any of them? Most have digital MPeg2 above ~ channel 70. Is this a very old cable system?

No, when I first installed the tv tuner without even plugging my cable line in there were 125 channels on the channel scan as that is how many it supports. And is it digital or analog through a coax cable?

BTW I have comcast. I have some rooms with the cable box and others with no box, just using the coax cable. One of these coax cables is what I am plugging into my tv tuner. TVs work using this cable.

Leadtek's customer service is absolutely horrible. Only available by email and they have no idea what to tell me. Their newest response: please reinstall vista. This may work. Are they kidding. Anyhow, I gave vista a fresh install the day before I tried to install this card.

I'm not sure if that's enough - I've always used a cable box to my PC...

No, I don't have that exact card but over time I've had several others and with each and every one of them, when using coax from the cable box to the card, the tuner had to be set to channel 3 (and the channels get switched on the cable box).

Sounds like you haven't scanned the channels. Check the manual for instructions. The tuner you bought only receives analog channels. You need a cable box for the digital channels.

Comcast usually uses two digits for analog channels and three digits for MPeg2 cable box virtual numbering*. Number of analog channels varries locally between ~40 to ~70.

    * Digital cable uses QAM modulation instead of NTSC. Actual digital QAM channels are numbered n.m where n is the actual channel number and m is the multiplexed subchannel (e.g. 89.10, 122.7).

Sound advise and good ideas - especiallly that part about scanning your channels. Most televisions won't work until this process is followed.

I just use the coax cable to my PVR-350. It works just fine.
