    I picked up a Panasonic dmr-ez17 at Best Buy today, so far the digital tuner is only picking the local stations HD channels, one of the non-premium movie channels and the digital music channels. Does it take time for the tuner to tune into the digital channels?

    That is normal if you are subscribing to analog cable. By law the local channels must be made available in HD even to analog cable subscribers but no guarantee of any other channels unless you pay for it.
