Video wont play (Please help)

When I try 2 watch AVI files in media player 7.1 it gives me an error message saying "No combination of filters could be found to render the stream. "

I am using windows 2000 and the AVI files wont play in any player. I have also tried 2 edit them in adobe premiere (Crashes program) Or convert them (Crashes program)

The Microsoft web sight says something about adding something 2 my registry (Then smoke started 2 come out of my brain)

4 me this is a little over my head, but maybe 4 some of u it's not! any help or ideas? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

use a program called divxfix, all ull need to do is rebuild index.
