I'm sitting here (couple hours ago) working on my computer and things. I inquire the tv guide to see
if a favorite movie is on -- "The Mummy Returns" -- and to my surprise, its on. (theres a favorite
scene I like to watch where the girls (Nefertieri and Anck-su-namun) fight, but I have many other
favorites, too. Anyway, shortly thereafter, I get an idea to inquire about a 3rd movie release. Well,
shore enough, and to my surprise its in post-production (whatever that means) but at least its in the
makings. However, it seems that Rachel Weisz is not in this one. I see that Jet Li is in it, though. I
wonder what part he's going to be doing.

    --> Brendan Fraser

--> The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) (post-production) .... Rick O'Connell
... aka The Mummy 3 (USA: informal title)

    I'm so happy :jumpping:

No Rachel Weisz? That sucks. But Jet Li, Anthony Wong, Michelle Yeoh, and Isabella Leong all sound good. Especially Anthony Wong since this would be his American debut.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

Hey, great news. Loved the first two, watch them every now and again. But no Rachel Weiss, thats dumb. I hate it when they do that. The pleasure of the originals is the humour and interaction between the main characters. Whats the excuse this time ? Is the mummy at least coming back for a third dose ?, and Racheals dorkey brother ?

    Morning everyone.

    --- "The Mummy Returns"

Yeah. I'm so excited, too. Regarding Jet Li, I figure his part might be something to do with
kicking aZZ, hehe.. Maybe Racheals dorkey brother. Oh, yes, he's back in it also, and I'm
glad, cause the more the original cast, the best. But with Racheal out, thats a slight damper.
But, I guess we'll see how she is out, did she die or go on vacation with her son.. you know.

--- OT: decoding TEC on "The Mummy Returns"

    Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1 -- Runtime: 130min -- Color: DeLux
    Broadcasted: 16:9 (letterbox)

Anyway, I had an *extra* special fondness for this movie because I couldn't figure out the
decoding of the ivtc for this one. It was odd, but there are apparently two broadcast versions.
The one being in 4:3 aspect ratio (which I'm accustom to seeing mostly) and I guess the *newer*
version, the 16:9 (letterboxed) (which I saw last evening) and all broadcasted over analog cabletv.
But because I am working on a cadence tool to decode (TEC) materia, I was able to finally figure it
out with the simple (though mysterious) avisynth function SelectEvery() and make it work -- Boya!
I busted this one wide open. Now it all restores back to 24p and in perfect smoothness. I'm so
excited !! (now to do the same for "Scorpion King", which is completely different TEC, though I can't wait)

Is Brendan Fraser still in it at least? That would make it worth it. And John Hannah is fun in the movie even if his character isn't exactly a top ace. He gets to make a bunh of the fun side comments that make the Mummy series unique.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

That's how I felt about Back to the Future. I made a Divx of all three movies, and that screwed it up. At the end of the first, Claudia Wells is Jennifer, then suddenly (in my "stitched" version) she's Elisabeth Shue (The hairstyles are different, too). Too bad none of these trilogies ever pull a Peter Jackson.

Um what about Star Wars? Both the prequel and sequels retained the principal actors in the seires (sans the ones that got bumped off naturally).

Waht about the Matrix Trilogy??? Oops sorry forgot about the ORACLE. They switched here for Revolutions. But they had an excuse, didn't the actress who played her in one and two die before they started filming three? Even though 2 and three were filmed consecutively they still had to recast the role....

    --- More on Rachel Weisz..

Well, at least Rachel has a reasonable excuse. Look'et how busy she is with all these offers.
I mean, some of them say "post-production" which I take to mean that they haven't started,
and that could mean she could talk [s:d148d86000]$dollars$[/s:d148d86000] i mean, haggle if they really want her written in.
I don't know. I just made that up, but you gotta start somewheres.

    1. The Colossus (2008) (in production) .... Olive Schreiner
... aka The Diamond Nightingale (UK)
    2. Sin City 2 (2010) (pre-production) (rumored) .... Ava Lord
    3. Dirt Music (2009) (pre-production) .... Georgie Jutland
    4. Agora (2009) (filming) .... Hypatia
    5. The Lovely Bones (2009) (post-production) .... Abigail Salmon
    6. The Brothers Bloom (2008) (post-production) .... Penelope

--- more on the two-girl fight scene

But I gotta tell ya.. after figuring out how to decode the movie (especially the two-girl fight scene)
it sure does make it all the more better now that it is completely progressive and not blended or
dumb-dumbed from prev mistakes of ivtc applications. And the fight scenes are worth the keep.

(Course, you all know that this is from the analog broadcast off cable tv (and TEC 'ed) that I captured
from. I would imagin that the dvd would be progressive to begin with and removing the potential for
    boasting)

EDITED: --> in fact, I'm so excited, I might even post the clip of the above scene, tomorrow.

I meant the whole filming all 3 movies simultaneously/in succession. At least you maintain better continuity that way.

@supreme 2k - sorry about the name thing I am actually using my computer on a 32inch hdtv a few feet way and I don't have perfect eyesight so I just eyeball it

And actually I do have to correct myself on the original starwars as far as main actors are concerened. I forgot about the recasting of the emperor from empire to return of the jedi. Obviously Ian McDiarmid is not the guy they used in Empire. However they did recast him in one of the subsequent dvd re-releases. I can't remembefr which edition did it. I think it was the last one that came out with the unedited laserdisc transfers of the original editions and the special edition combo sets (which I own of course plus the first dvd release).

And by the way I get your point about using a conitnious filiming cycle to preserve the look and feel of the cast and all. However it is very hard to get people to sign on for a 1 1/2 year film shoot like Lord of the Rings!.
