I have three scientific atlanta cable boxes stacked on top on each other, and obviously when I use the remote to change channels all three boxes are changed. Is there a way for me to control the boxes individually with some sort of other remote or device??? I realize that this might be a common problem, but I don't know what to do. Thanks!

if you are using multiple pieces of identical equipment, there is really nothing you can do.
I am just a worthless liar,
I am just an imbecil -
Is there any type of external device that I can hook up. Someone mentioned something about an "IR transverter"???

I experimented with this problem a few years ago.
I tried polarizing the remote and a matching (vertically or horizontal) filter on the set top unit.
A great idea....except good IR polarizers were very expensive...and the cheap ones didn't seem to work.
I might recommend to place the boxes as far apart as possible(along different walls?)
and tape small cardboard tubes onto the IR windows on each box to restrict the input direction.
That way you would have to point exactly at each box to operate it.
It's a hassle...but might work. ...and it's inexpensive
Good luckLosing one's sense of humor....
is nothing to laugh at.
