DVDIdle is the unique easy-to-use tool that extends life of DVD-ROM
2-8 times.
By using Smart Read-Ahead technology, it saves the titles of DVD to
the cache on hard drive, and lets DVD-ROM resting aside.
For example, a 6X-speed DVD-ROM works only 15 minutes for a 90 minutes
DVD title.
Other features include auto-detect DVD-ROM, run and close at dvd
player startup and exit automatically. :D

DVDIdle 1.02 Updated!
Win98/ME + WinDVD problem fixed.
Win200/XP + PowerDVD XP problem fixed. -
correct me if I am wrong, but if it caches the DVD rom to the hardrive then ir reads it does it not, so how does it extend the life of the DVD Rom ?,, sounds like SMARTDRV.EXE to or other cdrom cache programs
-
Unlike SMARTDRV.EXE or other cdrom cache programs, DVDIdle is designed specially for streaming media, it does not use LRU or LFU algorithm, it does not keep cache history, it does not keep your hard disk space after DVD player exit, it only use FIFO to cache the content ready to play. For example, your DVD-ROM will work 2m, then sleep 16m, then work 2m, then sleep 16m, and so on. So, your DVD-ROM's life is extended.

You mean there is a use for DVD-ROM *besides* ripping DVD's....

PowerDVD & WinDVD is the most popular DVD player, people use them to watch DVDs on computer, and DVDIdle is designed for those people. People buy DVD-ROM is not for ripping DVDs only. -
