I've been to a store today and saw a widescreen TV with an incredibly clear picture. I thought that the source might have been a DVD player. Wrong! It was a Digital VHS unit that can record at HDTV resolution. It is also compatible with S-VHS and VHS standards. Now that is a complete capturing solution! The only drawback is that the sucker costs $1,200 US.
That's at B&H where the prices can't go lower. Anyone here is working with D-VHS? What do you think about the technology?

digitizer,
hmmm, anyone hear of DV??
Only, D-VHS is wider, and bigger/bulkier. he, he...
My guess, is that it's probably a variation of DV format.
With that given, I'm not surprise that they came up with D-VHS.
No biggie to me.
But, buying a buch of 60min. DV tapes is:
* much less costly
* easier and smaller to store and catalog vs. bigger/bulkier VHS like
tapes.
I think that's about it.

There are two formats the mciro DV tapes and the bigger vhs style tapes. You can get record and playback units which accept both type of tapes in it front loading tray.
The smaller variety more popular.
