I hope this doesn't confuse anyone, i have Nero 7 premium edition, i can make a Blu-Ray movie which is AVCHD and burn to a regular dvd, my question is there a program that can make the file structure or similar of a HD DVD file, so i can burn to a regular dvd.
Reason why is because i have a Sony Playstation 3 and when i make a AVCHD movie file, i can burn onto a regular dvd, it works because if you take and format your hdd on your PS3, then put in the finished dvd, the BD Data Utility will show back up.I would like to make HD DVD movie file, so my dad can watch movies, clips, etc. on his HDDVD player.
My question is, i have a program that will make a file of a blu-ray structure and then burn, is there a program that i could do the same for HDDVD?
    Thanks in advance.

HD DVD players are VERY fussy about what they will play. Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus with HD DVD add on can create HD DVDs on single or dual layer DVDs that current HD DVD players will play. I have a test DVD that I got early last year off the internet. It was a TV capture. I don't know what was used to author it, but it was not Ulead and my Toshiba HD DVD definitely will not play it, although it plays fine as an HD DVD using PowerDVD on a PC.

I am not aware of any better or easier tools than Ulead to make HD DVDs. Scenarist can currently do it (upcoming releases will NOT have this function though, as another thread here pointed out yesterday), but Scenarist is not easy to use at all. There are currently no freeware tools that I know of that can create HD DVD discs. There probably will be freeware tools later this year that can create BluRay discs though as all of the development work for high def DVD authoring seems to be moving towards BluRay.
