  1. Did a few searches and didn't see anything that looks like what I'm after. I would like to be able to print good quality jpg's out of single frames in a mpeg. Is there a good program to do this with?

Just about any program that will print will print jpg's....
I assume you are capturing them with your regular software DVD player, if not, PowerDVD is good and it just has a icon you click on and it saves the picture as a BMP... non-compressed.
If you want a great, free, viewer, printer, converter, with some enhancing features get AcDsee...Its really good.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I wasn't real clear describing what I'm after. I do have Acdsee and you're right it is a great program. I've been using the registered version for a few years now. What I wanted to know is a program that is good at capturing the stills in the first place. Windows Movie maker in XP will break a clip down frame by frame which is great but I haven't found a way to capture a single frame to a jpg, bmp, or whatever. I'll check out PowerDvd, thanks

  5. Jampack, thanks for the suggestion but here's what happens when I try print screen. It does capture the screen image and I can paste it to windows paint. The problem happens when I try to save it. It doesn't seem to matter what type of file I save it as, the whole picture goes black. It happens this with movie maker and also with power DVD. Craziest thing. I can save a jpg out of the software I got with my ati card but I can't break mpg down frame by frame. It's almost impossible to pause it at the right spot and get the shot you want.

  6. If you have flash, you can load it into flash, then it will be frame by frame, and you can save a frame as any type of image.... iv done that in desprate situations. - Roman

  7. Oh and the print screen issue, is that MS Paint sucks, try Adobe Photoshop

  8. Load the MPEG in VirtualDub.

Go to the exact frame you want -- then copy it, and paste it in your favourite image editor (e.g., Paint Shop Pro).

    Regards.
