  1. I am going to be getting a very rare vcd/dvd and I want to rip the vcd (no dvd-rom at this time) to my computer. Is there a program that will rip vcd's?

DVD needs DVD drive...but VCD just put in the cd drive and copy the dat file from the disc....That can be converted with a program such as VCDgear back to mpg....Or newer versions ( and maybe old ones) of Windows Media Player will play dat file just like any other multimedia file...you just have to browse for it under the "all files" option.

  3. Yea, get VCDGear to convert the VCD's .dat movie file into a playable .mpg file. It is so much easier to rip VCDs than DVDs!!

  4. Thanx for the reply. So where do I get this VCDgear? If you can't or won't post the address, you can e-mail me personally.

  6. After you get VCDgear, go from DAT-->MPG and it might be a good idea to check the fix MPEG errors box.

  7. Why the hell are you trying to Rip a VCD????

Just copy the dam cd or copy the Dat file to your hardrive.

Windows media player recognizes dat files and works fine.
