Hopefully some one out there can help me with this problem as I cant see what I have been doing wrong. I have previously downloaded a few divx movies, used VirtualDub to split them in half, extracted the audio also using virtualdub, then TmpgEnc to encode in either Mpeg 1 or 2.

Up until recently I have had no probems with this method. I recently downloaded Monsters Inc and LOTR. When I open these AVI file in VIrtualdub to split them in half, an error msg comes up about the audio file being in an unknown VBR format and opening the file could result in the audio being ***** ms out of sync etc.

Anyway, didnt worry too much, disc one of each of these movies has come out perfect, and the second disc for some reason is about 20 to 30 secs out of sync, I have tried to redo the 2nd disc a couple of times, each time with the same problem, it appears that the splitting of the original AVI file has caused some problem with the second half ????

Am i overlooking some basic problem, have i become complacent and forgotten some begginers rules!!!!!! I hope someone can help me...........

    Thanks

  2. why try to encode and then split the mpeg file???? instead of splitting the original

  3. When you split the original you will run into all sorts of problems such as Multiplexing and Demultiplexing problems. If you still have the original AVI file, encode that then when its done split the MPG file. You will like the results 8)
