As you may or may not have noticed, many more posts about Pinnacle's Studio series are being posted here at VH.
    Why?
Because version 11 is the first that is actually stable. Evidently Avid, the parent company, has decided to take Pinnacle under it's wing and actually make it work....and the reviews for this consumer level editor are now good...very good as a matter of fact.
Support for HDV and AVCHD included.
You can also burn HD onto DVD's like VS11+.
I also read somewhere that the cam deshaker is better than most.

What's bizzare is there seems to be no demo version available. You either buy it or you don't.
@ $90 on the street for the Ultimate edition (full), Series 11 is running about twice the price of VS11+ (full) which is hands down the cheapest editor to handle HDV & AVCHD.

There haven't been any reviews on Pinnacle's Studio for quite some time (v10.5 was still buggy). I think you owe it to yourself to go out and buy v11 and report your findings back here at VH.

Just saying this is bound to be a major player in cheapo consumer solutions.

    MSP8 doesn't handle HD well.
I had to buy VS11+ for a bandaid until I figure which way I'm going with serious yet fun HD editing and creation.

For my immediate needs, VS11+ is the best value and biggest bang for the buck in the consumer crud market for HD...all for $24 on ebay

I've got Pinnacle Studio Ultimate V11 a few days ago and installed it on Win XP partition of Intel C2D 2.4 (3Gig RAM) of IMac with Boot Camp (Leopard). I wanted to use included with Mac OS IMovie, but something I did not get in there so I left a learning for letter time and began to work on some projects with studio. It's just standard AVI files from DV camcorder. I did not have any issues yet as I was getting occacionally from Pinnacle Studio 9. Everithing nice, smooth and fast. It also may be good for not having any antivirus progs installed with dissabled internet access. So far I'm happy.

Buy it? Pinnacle should give us older users one for free in reparations for our misery. I wouldn't buy anything that says "Pinnacle" these days. Not with that track record. Not having a demo/trial is stupid.

Give it another chance. At my level of editing home movies it's most convenient video editor. I had too many problems with Adobe PE2. I have installed Final Cut Express on Mac side but I like Pinnacle better. I wish they would make software for Mac too.

I have an unopened v9 box. Will they take it in trade?

I just couldn't bring myself to open it and face the music*.

It was one of those free with rebate Fry's deals. I went through the hassle of the rebate applications but just couldn't open the box.

I never had a problem with Studio funny. I started with the Studio 8 ATI version and have upgraded since. No big problems at all save for LONG processing times with the new version which also takes DAYS to load initially at start up, pretty funny.

The only thing I guess that's wrong with it, every time I put a reformatted version of a recorded DVR-MS video, it always puts the audio OUT OF SYNC!

All I am doing is editing it with Studio 10.8 and encoding it.

    In this last test -

DVR-MS to AVI to Studio to edit adverts, encode WMV Highest Setting, Stereo Dolby

The resolution was off the first time I did it with a Global Trekker file and it was out of sync still!

    Maybe its Studio????

Maybe I'll update to 11, if the upgrade is cheap enough.
