Hi,i need lots of advice.
Ive been downloading movies from kazaa and encoding them with tempgnc and virtualdub.I have won and lost doing this, the usual problems with audio sync and splitting file to fit on one disk.Anyway,i want to go straight from the hardrive now to video.Im hoping this will cure some of the nagging problems.Ive read in the how to sections that tv out card dont give really good results,is this true?.If i went to buy one what am i looking for?.Will i be able to just play movie with media player and record on video?.Is it that simple?.Is there anything else i need to know before i but one?.

I have a capture card with video in and out capability..but it would only output thing that were in its own special encoding...Which takes forever and is a waste for what I wanted...
So I went and got a new video card that has multiple outs, one for monitor and one for composite and one for s-video. Now if I can get my computer to play it in any format I can view it on TV and tape it... not just videos, games or any computer stuff...
Only thing that I haven't got around is that I have to set screen size to 640x480 on TV out or I can't do full screen properly...
Did this rambling help any?? -
Thanks for the rambling as you put it!.an you give me abit more info.
Will i lose any quality of movie to tv through card?.What leads r used to connect the two?.What type of card did you buy and how much was it?.Im not quite sure what you mean about screen size can you not just play on media player and change to full screen or is this to easy?.
Thanks in advance -
HA ha...you would think that you just hit play and everything works same on TV as on monitor....No such luck.
My card is a ATI-RadeonVE-64mb with video outs. Ran about 65-75 dollars at the local COMPusa. The drivers it came with allow you to configure the Tv screen as either a exact copy of monitor or as an extention of monitor(that settings weird, it like the desktop is twice as wide but half on a different screen)
As a copy it is pretty simple ....but I think TV's won't support any thing over 640X480 (like displaysettings on your monitor) my screen is usally 800X600 tru color...so I have to set copy at 640x480 thats all....Have not test it completly but quality is the same as on PC.
Sorry
Left off info on connectors...Standard RCA cables from video out on card to video in on VCR. Also they all expect you to use the audio out on your sound card for audio connection.. so I just got a rca cable that had standard rca on one side and the mini stereo headphone type on the other to plug into sound card out..
