  1. I have tons of music videos in my pc and now that they have taken over the Hard disks I want to get rid of them.... by burning them to DVD's. (Playable in a dvd player, not just back-up dvd's)

I downloaded a trial version of Ulead DVD Movie Factory to do that because since it's only music videos I didn't want to spend time editing them myself, I just wanted a single program to select and burn... you get the idea.

The thing is: I did my first project and it started, before it started a popup screen warned me "This may take a while"... I know that, but it's been 20 HOURS AND IT'S STILL at 10%.... WTF???????????

Has anyone used this program?, is the program that takes too long or is that "normal"?.

Do you have another software that would work better for me doing this?

    Any help will be appreciated!!!

No, it's not normal. Use something else like convertxtodvd, favc, dvd flick to convert to dvd. Or if you want to create your own menus maybe try latest tmpgenc dvd author.

How much (in time) are you trying to put on one disk? With your system, I'd expect around 2-3 times "real time" encoding to DVD specs.
I'd second something like FAVC or Convertx2DVD for this kind of "just convert it all to DVD" project.

It depends what format the original avi files are. To create a DVD they must be DVD compliant mpeg2 at the correct resolution. If they are any other format they will have to be re-encoded which can take a long time.

However, your computer spec is similar to mine and I reckon on about 8 hours to encode 2 hours worth of DV footage, although that is already at a DVD compliant resolution so resizing doesn't need to be done. One thing to not with the Ulead software is that it converts the video first, reaches 50% done and then converts the audio which takes hardly any time at all. So although it is telling you it is 10%, it is actually 20% done.

  5. Thanks for the responses, I'm going to try those programs you recommended. I wonder if I just leave that one running how long will it take to finish?...

    I'll keep you updated!.

    Thanks again!

  6. Well, I left that darn PC there just to see when it was going to end.

It was 30 hours and it jumped from 50% to 100% and burned the DVD in 15 min.

I did the very same project with convertxtodvd and it only took 2 hours... CRAZY!!!.

The menu is better with DVDMF, but for 28 hours more HELL NO!!!!.

I still don't understand why 2 programs did the same thing with so much difference in time.

Well, thanks for the info Baldrick, Matts & Richard. It sure helped me a lot!!!

Your settings are simply wrong, that's all.
In fact, you can't set anything in DVDMF, can you?
