  1. I own ProShow Gold and Adobe Premeire Elements. Is there anything that will give me better results for .jpeg slide shows? What do the pros use to make their stuff look so good on TV. Man, by the time my stuff gets that far it's blurry. I'm using high-res shots but it doesn't seem to matter. What's out there or how can I get better results with what I'm using? Thanks!

  2. I use Proshow Gold all the time to make professional slide shows from jpegs. Results are great both through a video projector and my Olevia 37 inch TV. I have used high quality jpegs (least amount of compression) from 4mps up to 7mps cameras. For photos I need to scan I use 400dpi for wallet size photos and 300dpi for 4x6 up to 8x10.\

    Most of my clients use a projector or a 27inch TV when they show them.

    I output using the high quality and sp settings from Proshow Gold to mpeg dvd or directly to DVD iso if I am not going to create a custom menu in TMPGEnc DVD Author.

    It is possible to achieve great results using ProShow. I use ProShow also [Producer version], and when I first started using it I discovered that the results were much better using a lossless format such as .png or .tif (instead of .jpg) when creating slideshows. Try converting your images to .png or .tif first, and make sure your output settings are set to "High Quality." I believe you will achieve much better results.

    Unless the jpg decoding routine in ProShow is seriously flawed, there should be no quality gain in going
    jpg->"uncompressed" -> ProShow
    instead of
    jpg -> ProShow
    as the "uncompressed" will never be of higher q than the original jpg.

  6. OK, shows are looking good. I've got a question...

    I'm trying to delay the start of my audio. It's starting immediately but I want an intro with no audio. I can't figure how to do this. I'm selecting all, then de-selecting the first two blank slides, then checking 'sync selected slides'. No matter what I do, the audio wants to start as soon as the show starts. Help?

    Use Audacity to add a few seconds of silence to the start of the audio track

  8. I thought about taking that route. Thanks for your replies as usual, guns1inger.

  9. Ummm, are there a few quick and easy steps to doing this?

  10. Scratch that - import track, generate silence. Thanks!

  11. Dear mods, I'm not bumping, I have more questions!

    What is causing this 'weirdness' when zooming in and out?

    I guess it's a feature to add some life to the creation. MS PhotoStory 3 does the same. But there should be some way to turn it off.

  13. No, I added the zooming. I'm talking about the 'crawling' in some of the slides. On the fifth slide on the girl's pants...

    OK, I see - That's from the resizing. A kind of Moiré effect. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moire_pattern)
    Only way to avoid that'd be to blur the image first, I guess. You see that effect on TV too, specially in pinstripes or small checkers.
